This chest was handmade for my grandmother by one of her suitors in the Appalachian mountains of east Tennessee near Tiger Creek. It was a Christmas present and has "MERRY XMAS" on the front. Lots of detail and in great shape. It has a beautiful finish with a natural knotty pine wood grain and cedar lining. A wonderful, one-of-a-kind piece.
Age (I am guessing): made around 1915-1920 since she was married in 1920 but not to the man that made this!
Measurements: 27.5" H x 41" W x 21" D
Condition: The chest is in very good vintage condition being structurally sturdy and sound with age appropriate signs of use, including minor rubs The plaque on the lid has some chips (see pic). Overall the wear is light for its age, and serves to give it a really appealing aged appearance and rustic charm.
